Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday earned party chief Rahul Gandhi’s praise for joining him in campaigning just a day after he suffered head injuries during a temple ritual.
“I was worried when Tharoor was hurt. I am happy to see that he was back in action. It tells you about his spirit. As Congress president, I am telling you, he represented you well in Parliament. He speaks for you in Parliament. He is an asset for Kerala,” Rahul Gandhi said praising Tharoor for joining him in his campaign.
It was delightful receiving @rahulgandhi in my constituency despite having my head bandaged after my recent accident. Joined him onstage at a rousing rally for the @INCIndia candidates from Thiruvanthapuram district, @AdoorPrakash (Attingal) & myself. He took the crowd by storm! pic.twitter.com/KTv9VEMCn6

The 63-year old MP was admitted to the medical college ICU for observation yesterday and later discharged.
On Tuesday, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, made a visit to Tharoor in the hospital. Shashi Tharoor had later tweeted a picture of him with the Defence Minister and said: Touched by the gesture of Nirmala Sitharaman, who dropped by today morning to visit me in the hospital, amid her hectic electioneering in Kerala. Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics – great to see her practice it by example!”
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was taken to hospital after he suffered injuries while making a Thulabharam offering at the Gandhari Amman Kovil temple in Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. Tharoor got eight stitches, after which he was shifted to a super-speciality hospital.
