Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale lucidly said in a statement that he will remain with the Bharatiya Janata Party as long as the party is in power, only in odd situations he will think of switching the party. The statement came as a remark over Naseem Khan’s invitation to join Congress.

“I stayed with the Congress for 10-15 years and now I will stay with the BJP for at least 15-20 years. I will be here as long as the current government remains in power and will decide on switching side only when the direction of the wind changes. Will switch the side of which the wind is blowing,” said R Athawale in Mumbai on Friday.

Athawale is famous for changing parties for ministerial positions depending on the major parties weightage after Lok Sabha elections. He has also joint hands with Sharad Pawar in past before switching his sides once again to join the BJP since he did not get a ministerial position in Nationalist Congress party.

He has been quite vocal about his attitude towards switching side within political parties for his personal gains. In 2014 during a public meeting in Lonavla during Lok Sabha campaign, the minister had said in front of Amit Shah that, “I don’t get gains without changing friends”.
