A rare white lion that was born in Szeged Zoo in Hungary made its first public appearance on May 24. The female lion cub has been named as Sonja. The cub weighs 1.5 kg and her mother gave birth to her without any complication.

It was also reported that the father of the cub is separated from the family but soon the whole family will be reunited again.

For those unaware, white lions are not albinos. They are a rare color mutation of the lion especially the South African lion. Their white color is caused by recessive trait, distinct from the gene responsible for the white tigers.
Also recently a 3-week old baby porcupine was spotted in the zoo sitting on its mother’s back
