Air India derostered and issued a summon to a flight Captain and Purser after the duo broke out into an ugly verbal spate on board a Air India AI-772 aircraft in front of public, resulting two hours delay in Bengaluru-Delhi flight.

Going by the reports, the incident happened on Monday, June 17 when the Captain allegedly asked the crew member to rinse his lunch box of which the purser took offence and then the two almost came to blows in full view of passengers.

When informed of the situation by other crew on board, the airline immediately grounded both of them and the flight operated with a delay of two hours after calling in another purser and Captain.

A leading online publication quoted a senior aviation official who stated that “the pilot got food from home and asked the senior crew member to heat it. After finishing his meal, the pilot told this crew member to rinse the container. He objected to being asked to do so after which there was an altercation but perhaps no fist fight.”

The matter was reported to the Airlines as well as Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Taking stern view on the issue, Air India issued summons to the crew for questioning. The two were off-rostered (taken off flying duty) the moment report of this fight came to the management.
