One of the two women who made history by entering Sabarimala Temple in Kerala was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by her mother-in-law.

After receiving threats from the right wing protesters, Kanaka Durga was living in an unknown location for almost two weeks.

According to a source, when Kanaka Durga tried to enter the house, she was stopped by her mother-in-law and amid the ruckus, she was hit by a wooden rod. The police officials who were there to ensure her safety rushed her to the hospital and her situation was declared stable. Due to the scuffle, the mother-in-law also attained injuries which were treated.

A case has been registered against her mother-in-law under Section 341 and Section 324 of the IPC.

Kanaka Durga along with Bindu Ammini became the first women under the age of 50 to enter the Sabarimala Temple which was banned by the devotees as they considered that women should not be allowed near the shrine.

The temple is in limelight since September 28 when supreme court ordered to end the age restriction on women but that didn’t go well with the devotees and protesters which led to widespread protests and strike by the Congress and BJP party members.
