This fast allows the observer to consume fruits, vegetables, and plant roots.

On this day, peanuts, potatoes, and sabudana khichdi are staple foods.

After seeing the moon, the Sankashti puja is performed in the evening. The Lord Ganesha idol is decorated with flowers during the puja. In front of the idol, a lamp is also lit.

After worshipping Lord Ganesha and seeing the moon in the evening, the fast is broken.

On this occasion, an offering of modaks and other Lord Ganesha’s favourite foods is prepared.
