Sarke Chunar Backlash: The song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from the Hindi version of KD The Devil came out and very quickly got into trouble. The track features Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi. Many people on the internet got angry because they felt the lyrics were too bold and too suggestive. After heavy trolling and strong criticism, the song was removed from YouTube.
Now the lyricist Raqueeb Alam has spoken about the whole matter. He said people blamed him very fast, but he was not the original writer of the song. According to him, the song was first made in Kannada and he was only asked to turn those words into Hindi, even though he was not happy doing it.

Raqueeb Alam says he had doubts from the start
While speaking to HT City, Raqueeb Alam said he felt very bad about the way people reacted to him. He explained that he had already told the makers that this kind of song would create problems.
He also felt it may not even pass censorship. Sharing what happened, he said, “When I was asked to write all this, I did not agree, saying that it would not work, and it would also be censored. They asked me to only literally translate the Kannada version and give it to them; they would then set it to the song’s meter. Words like ‘Chsega’, ‘chaaga’ are all there in the original version.”
He also said he had refused the offer at first. He did not want to be linked to the track in this way. Talking about his frustration, he asked, “Why do I have to be associated with this song?”
Raqueeb also said this one song has hurt him badly, especially because he has done a lot of good work before. He felt people ignored his better songs and only noticed this controversy. He said, “When I write good songs, people don’t notice. I have written Chikri Chikri in Hindi for Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi. All the songs of Pushpa in Hindi were written by me. I am feeling humiliated because of Sarke Chunar.”

Song taken down
After the backlash became bigger, the official version of Sarke Chunar was removed from YouTube. Raqueeb said the makers came back to him again after that. This time they asked him to write clean lyrics for the same song. He said he quickly sent them a draft for a new version. That fresh version is now being recorded. He also said it may be released with an apology.
The issue has not stayed limited to social media users only. People from the film world also reacted strongly. Singer Armaan Malik spoke about the poor quality of songwriting in films. Filmmaker Onir also questioned what the censor board is giving importance to. The All India Cine Workers Association also shared its concern about the film’s content and advised the CBFC to take proper action over what was shown in the film.
