Shubman Gill, once again carved his name into cricket history on 3 July 2025, in the second Test at Edgbaston. On Day 2, he passed 150, his highest Test score to date carving out yet another monumental innings for India.
Gills 150-plus score was more than a personal achievement. He was the first Indian batter to reach 150 at Edgbaston, and just the ninth touring captain to score centuries in both the first and second Tests of an England series, alongside legends such as Don Bradman and Mohammad Azharuddin. That stand with Ravindra Jadeja also went past 150 runs, showcasing a captain who never stops coming from the front.
Gill’s unbeaten 114 on Day 1 rescued India at 310‑5 as they hung in there, his composed approach to crisis batting paying dividends. It was his 7th Test hundred and 2nd in as many matches, after he had made 147 on captaincy debut at Headingley. Ex-India coach Ravi Shastri termed the knock ‘fantastic and very solid’, applauding the disciplined temperament he exhibited at No.4.
