Subsequently, Ethiopian Israelis observe Sigd Day by engaging in festivities following the first part of the day of prayer. Contemporary Sigd Day celebrations are characterized by vibrant Ethiopian festivals. Every Jewish heritage is represented. Jewish heritage and diversity are vividly celebrated on Sigd Day through concerts and theatrical productions. The Ethiopian Jewish community, which claims to be Menelik I’s direct descendants, is alternatively referred to as the Beta Israel.
