2018 has been a splendid year for Ranveer Singh in all term. The star has been ruling the headlines for endless reasons, got two biggest openers of his career (Simmba and Padmaavat), won the critics with his performance in both films, and off course, tied knots with co-actor Deepika Padukon.
His year-ending film Simmba directed by Rohit Shetty garnered impressive numbers with Rs 20.72 crore and Rs 23.33 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Simmba has been dominating the box office since its first day, and it ended the first weekend with flying colours. According to early estimates, the film made Rs 18 crore approx on its third day, bringing its total collection to Rs 62 crore approx. The film is expected to continue its winning streak, as there is no big Bollywood release until January 11.
An official remake of the Telugu hit Temper, Simmba starring Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in the lead roles, revolves around a dishonest cop named Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer), who falls in love with Shagun (Sara), who runs a catering service near his police station. Everything is going swimmingly, until the woman he considers his younger sister, 19-year-old medical student Aakruti Dave, gets brutally raped and killed.
It will be interesting to see if Simmba is able to pass the Monday test, and maintain the momentum over the weekdays.
