More and more people seem to be following campaigns and trends on social media and our Indian ministers are definitely not lagging behind. Following the trend, tech savvy Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Irani has started a new campaign and Twitterati seems to be intrigued by it.
Celebrating the cotton industry, Ms Irani tweeted a picture of herself in a cotton saree on Tuesday, encouraging others to share their #CottonIsCool looks as well. She tagged several people in her tweet including Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and the Fashion Design Council of India among others.
As a result, #CottonIsCool is currently trending on Twitter!
Irani’s tweet has since collected over 2,600 ‘likes’ and more than 600 retweets. She began her campaign by saying that India is one of the world’s leading producer of cotton.
