What is the Summer SNAP program?

Children who are eligible for SNAP receive an additional 40 dollars on a prepaid card each month during the summer season.

A number of states and tribal nations will implement summer EBT in 2024, with the final list to be released in the spring.

In order to qualify for the benefits, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your child is entitled to free school meals
  • Your household income is at or below 185% of the federal poverty level by 2023-2024
  • You already receive SNAP or TANF benefits
  • The school district may also provide Head Start for your children.

There is no specific deadline for these benefits, but it is advised that you apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Applications are available online through your child’s school district.
