A new ZEE5 Original Film titled Tadka: Love Is Cooking starring Ali Fazal, Nana Patekar, Taapsee Pannu, and Shriya Saran has been launched. The remake of the Malayalam hit Salt N Pepper, Tadka, produced by Zee Studios and Movie Makers Inc., is co-produced by Girish Johar and jointly produced by Nittin Keni, Sameer Dixit, Akash Chawla, and Jatin Varma. The film also has music by maestro Ilayaraja and cinematography by Preetha Jayaram. Lilette Dubey and Rajesh Sharma play minor roles. It debuted on November 4 on ZEE5.
A romantic comedy of mistakes Prakash Raj wrote and helmed the film Tadka: Love Is Cooking. Tukaram (Nana Patekar), an archaeologist, and Madhura (Shriya Saran), a radio jockey, fall in love despite what looks to be a misdialed number. When it comes time for them to meet in person, however, Gaurishankar has second thoughts and sends his nephew Siddharth (Ali Fazal) to visit Vidya, who in turn sends her friend Nicole (Taapsee) to meet Gaurishankar. Sidharth (who introduced himself as Gaurishankar) and Aditi (who introduced herself as Vidya) hit it off immediately upon meeting and decide to persuade Gaurishankar and Vidya that they shouldn’t be together. Will Gaurishankar and Vidya’s shared love of food bring them closer together, or will their internalised belief that they are too old to fall in love prevent it? Will love prevail over lost identities?
Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer of ZEE5 India, stated in a statement that ZEE5’s mission is to support passionate storytellers with compelling tales to tell, and as part of this vision, they are happy to collaborate with Prakash Raj on Tadka, his OTT directorial debut. The film, starring Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, Taapsee Pannu, and Ali Fazal, is a joyful romantic comedy of errors with the perfect blend of delicious food, adoring romance, and uplifting music to brighten one’s day.
Tadka, according to actor-director Prakash Raj, is a special film filled with humour, cuisine, and happiness. He chose to adapt and direct Salt N’ Pepper in Hindi because he like the original Malayalam film, which is a charming, humorous, and entertaining tale. Raj is grateful to have Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, Taapsee Pannu, and Ali Fazal with him on this expedition, and he is anxious for Tadka to spread love and happiness by nourishing people’s bellies and hearts.
While Shriya Saran noted that she had heard such great things about the original film, Salt N’ Pepper, that she leaped at the chance to be a part of the Hindi adaptation because it is not often that one gets to work with Prakash Raj and Nana Patekar. The actor hopes that the audience enjoys their film since Tadka is the type of film she cherishes and enjoys because it feels like a warm embrace on a cold day.
