Toyota Teases Upcoming Century SUV Set for September 6 Unveiling:
Additionally, the Japanese automaker has confirmed that the unveiling of this masterpiece will take place on September 6, 2023.
Following the resounding success of the newly introduced Vellfire MPV on the Indian market, the Japanese automaker had previously confirmed the development of the Century SUV.
As part of its strategy to diversify its product line, Toyota will place the new ultra-luxury SUV next to the legendary Century sedan, an automotive icon with origins dating back to 1967. Unlike its sedan companion, which only serves the Japanese market, the Century SUV is intended to become a global phenomenon. Toyota is prepared to employ the successful marketing strategy of the Crown brand, which has been adopted in several regions, including North America.
The Century SUV utilises the same monocoque chassis as the Toyota Grand Highlander SUV. This makes it even more suitable for pavement as opposed to rocky terrain.
In addition, this vehicle has been meticulously designed to accommodate customers who appreciate being chauffeur-driven. The opulent interior and active noise suppression are designed to compete with models such as the Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga.
With a length of approximately 5.2 metres, the Century SUV offers ample space and may even be available with three rows of seating, further enhancing its versatility.
While the Century sedan features a potent V12 gasoline engine, the SUV variant is anticipated to take a different route. Toyota is contemplating a gasoline-hybrid powertrain for the Century SUV that could rival the performance of the Grand Highlander SUV. This cutting-edge technology combines a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors to produce 243 horsepower. Alternately, the lineup could feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbocharged engine coupled with an electric motor that generates 362 horsepower.
Toyota and Lexus have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to the Indian market by introducing their global models in a timely manner. Notable examples include the Vellfire and the forthcoming Lexus LM MPV, both of which attained instantaneous popularity following their international debuts. Industry insiders speculate that Toyota may introduce the Century SUV to India in the future as a result of this trend.
