Udayanraje Bhosale trails in Satara Constituency by over 94,000 votes

The Election Commission of India is set to declare the bypoll results for the Satara constituency in Maharashtra today. Satara strongman Udayanraje Bhosale, who had switched from NCP to BJP ahead of the polls, is trailing from his erstwhile Lok Sabha constituency – Satara.

Satara is one of the two parliamentary constituencies where Lok Sabha bypolls are happening. It is a bastion of the NCP and the party is trying to regain its stronghold amid largescale defection.

The seat grabbed eyeballs after the resignation of Udayanraje Bhosale, the 13th descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji. He had quit the NCP and resigned from the member of Lok Sabha. Within 3 months of general election, he joined the BJP.
