A 85-year-old woman, Kishno Devi had been bedridden for months and from last one week she was so unwell that she had not eaten anything. Beyond all this, the woman, resident of Yanna Majara village in the Charthawal region of Muzaffarnagar in UP insisted to cast vote. Her family was left with no option against her wish so they carried her on a bed to the polling booth to cast vote.

Her wish of casting vote was fulfilled and her broad smile was the proof of it but little did everyone knew that it was her last wish. Hours later, the woman breathed her last.

Village headman Kanwarpal said, “When her son and daughter-in-law came to the village’s polling centre and told me about her last wish, I decided to make arrangements.”

He and his three associates went to the woman’s house and carried her on charpoy to the polling centre where she cast her vote around 5:30 pm.

Her son told that she was very particular about casting her vote that her renal failure also failed to deter her spirit.

Muzaffarnagar went to polls on Thursday and witnessed 66.67% polling. The constituency, which has RLD chief Ajit Singh pitted against former Union minister Sanjeev Balyan, has over 16 lakh voters.
