In a heart wrenching incident, a man identified as Dharmendra Kumar heard cries of an infant who was found buried alive near a pond in Jalalabad area of Shahjahanpur district. Following the fainting cries, Kumar reached the spot, dug out the infant and rushed her to a district hospital.
The incident took place on Friday. The baby’s condition is reported to be stable now. A woman has volunteered to take care of the baby. An enraged Kumar told a leading publication that he informed the police of the cruel act. He said, “How can a person abandon the baby in this cold weather?”
Though the identity of the person, who buried the baby alive, is yet to be ascertained, but a few witnesses claimed that they had spotted a woman, who had covered her face, carrying the girl to the spot where she was found buried alive hours later.
The doctor who is treating the girl said that she is being checked for any disease. Reportedly, there were a few witnesses which claimed a woman who had covered her face had reached the spot where she buried the baby.
In a similar incident reported a few days back, the police had pulled out a 50-year-old woman from the funeral pyre at a village in Muzaffarnagar and booked the husband and four others for foul play
