Preparations are in full swing to hold panchayat elections as per the directions of the Allahabad High Court. Reservation allocation of District Panchayat Chairpersons has also been made by the Government after fixing the rotational reservation formula.

UP Panchayat Election 2021: Preparations for the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh have reached the final stage. In panchayat elections, the provisional list of reservations for Gram Pradhan, blockhead, and Ward member posts will be released in blocks and districts today, 2nd March.

With the allotment of reservation, objections will be taken up by 8th March. The disposal work will be done on 10-11 March after collecting objections on 9th March. The final publication of reservation lists will be held on 16th March. Sources said the model code of conduct is likely to be implemented on 26th March.

Now, the Panchayati Raj Department has completed the reservation allocation of Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Gram Panchayat members, BDC members, and blockhead posts.

Due to partial delimitation, reservation allocation of District Panchayat wards is taking more time .

Tenure of Village panchayats ended in December 2020

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier announced that this time rotational formula will be used for preparing the reservation list. Introduced in the month of February, according to the rotational formula the seats for the categories will be reserved on the basis of their population.

It is important to note that in UP, 3051 posts are for District Panchayat members, 826 for Block Heads, 75,855 for Area Panchayat members, 58,194 for Gram Pradhan, and 7,31,813 posts for Gram Panchayat members. Out of these, 1 percent will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 21 percent for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 27 percent for Other Backward Classes (OBC). And the remaining 51 percent seats will be for general. One-third of seats in all classes will be reserved for women. The tenure of the village panchayats ended on December 25, 2020.
