UP: Two arrested on acid-attack charges

Soon after Yogi Adityanath’s visited the acid attack survivor on Friday, two people were arrested on the same day for allegedly forcing a Dalit woman to drink acid while she was travelling from Rae Bareli to Lucknow in the Ganga Gomti Express.

The incident took place on Thursday at a place somewhere near Lucknow. It came to light when the train reached Charbagh station in Lucknow and the survivor lodged a complaint to the Railway Police. Four CRPF personnel were released from duty, who were escorts at the time of the incident. According to the complaint lodged by the survivor and his family, a police case was filed against Dileep Singh, his brother Pradeep under fatal attack by acid and SC/ST Act at Charbagh GRP police station.

Notably, the survivor had filed a case between 2009-2012 against the two accused, their father and other members of their family on five different charges of gangrape, molestation and acid attack. Although the cases still remain pending.

Vimla, the survivor, a mother of two was a worker at the Sheroes Cafe, she was rushed the King George’s Medical University soon after the attack on Thursday. She is stable and recovering now.
