US Presidential debate: Trump won’t commit to accept poll result

The third and final US presidential debate ended on Wednesday with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton facing each other in Las Vegas. Moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace, it covered several issues, including abortion, immigration and the relationship with Russia.

Surprisingly, Donald Trump has been claiming for the past week that the elections could be rigged and ended his address refusing to give an assurance that he will accept the November 8 election results. “I will tell you at the time,” he told moderator Chris Wallace. For days he has claimed the election is “rigged”.

The Las Vegas debate continued the campaign’s bitter tone, with Trump calling Clinton a “nasty woman”. Polls show Trump is losing in key battleground states after facing a slew of sexual assault allegations.

Many bypolls covered by numerous channels clearly asserted that Clinton was the clear winner in the debate and Fox News, in its poll gave Hillary Clinton a six-point lead over Donald Trump. A week ago, Clinton was leading with seven points. In the latest weekly poll, Fox News said Clinton has a six-point lead over Trump.

CNN for instance too declared Hillary Clinton the winner of the third and final presidential debate, in its first opinion poll of the night. The survey found that 52% of voters believe Clinton won the 90-minute debate on Wednesday night compared to 39% of participants who said that her rival Donald Trump emerged victorious.

Clinton also won the Breitbart online poll, according to which she had the support of 59.3 per cent of the respondents, while 40.65 backed Trump. This is interesting because Trump’s campaign CEO is former Breitbart chairman Steve Bannon.

Meanwhile, both the camps declared victory for themselves.
