In Uttar Pradesh, over 1.5 lakh police posts lay vacant due to lack of training facility. The present strength of training for every batch is roughly for 28000 constables and for 2000 sub-inspectors putting together all the police training colleges as well as other training centres.

Last month the Apex Court gave a green signal to fill in the vacant posts, but now the government is struggling with training facilities. The post will be filled with written exams which were earlier scrapped under the Samajwadi Party government in the state. Recruitments during the SP rule scrapped written examination and hired on the basis of marks and physical results. The previous regime faced criticism due to this move as it froze the recruitments.

The recruitments will start in July this year. As per reports, roughly 3000 vacancies will be served. This could be due to the limited training facilities. means that the total vacant posts in the police department will need 5 years to be filled in.
