While the tussle to form government In Maharashtra continues among major political parties Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena have claimed that the BJP poachers are on the lookout. The three parties have parked their MLAs in resorts to prevent poaching by the saffron party.

While, the Shiv Sena MLAs are staying at the Lalit hotel, the Congress moved its MLAs to JW Marriott hotel in Juhu area. The NCP shifted its 45 legislators to The Renaissance hotel in Powai.

In all this chaotic scenery, nothing changes much for one CPI(M) MLA in the state – Vinod Nikole, who represents Palghar’s Dahanu. It was the only seat the Left won in the Maharashtra assembly polls 2019. The CPI(M) candidate had defeated sitting BJP legislator Pascal Dhanare by over 4700 votes.

The 48-year-old Vinod Nikole, with assets of just Rs 52,082, is the ‘poorest’ of the 288 newly-elected MLAs.

A party worker for the past 15 years, Nikole is a member of the CPI(M) state committee and is the state secretary and the Thane-Palghar district secretary of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).

According to The Week, he was also amongst the 40,000 peasants who participated in the march from Nashik to Mumbai.

Nikole’s father was a farm labourer. When hard times fell upon the family, Nikole dropped out of high school and started selling vada pav and tea.
