Video: Doctor brutally thrashed by relatives of deceased patient

Just after the Doctors in Maharashtra called off their strike last night. A video set in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh has been posted by ANI of a doctor being brutally thrashed by relatives of a patient. The attack on the doctor in Uttar Pradesh took place on Thursday and the video of the incident has gone viral. In the video, relatives of a deceased patient are seen physically assaulting the doctor.

 

Nearly 4,500 resident doctors at government hospitals have been on strike across Maharashtra since Monday, demanding better security in hospitals.  And as the agitation extended barriers, the movement is getting support from associations in UP, Delhi, West Bengal and various other states.

In Delhi, nearly 20,000 resident doctors refused to resume work on Thursday went on mass casual leave in solidarity which delayed over 800 surgeries across Delhi government causing health crisis in the national capital.

Resident doctors from around 40 government hospitals, including Ram Manohar Lohia, Lady Hardinge Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital did not attend. Doctors at AIIMS extended support by wearing helmets at work. On Friday Delhi will witness strike of doctors even from Private hospitals. Sir Ganga Ram hospital on Thursday said, that extending support to the protesting doctors in Maharashtra, their OPD services will not be available on Friday.
