Western Australia Day 2023: Western Australia Day commemorates the day in 1829 when British captain Charles Fremantle established the Swan River Colony by claiming Western Australia for the British Empire. The day, which was once known as “Foundation Day,” was renamed so that all of Western Australia’s residents, including those from indigenous tribes, may celebrate it. The first Monday in June is WA Day, and this year it’s on the 5th.
