WhatsApp to launch animated stickers for Android, iOS and WhatsApp Web

In order to make the instant messaging platform more attractive and user friendly, WhatsApp has been making some constant efforts. A new report claims that WhatsApp is working on integrating animated stickers, which has been spotted on the latest version of the app.

As per the reports, the WhatsApp is working to bring new animated stickers to chats, which will be made available across all platforms as well as WhatsApp Web. The animated stickers on WhatsApp is currently being tested on Android and iOS.

The popular WhatsApp beta tester, WABetaInfo initially spotted the new animated sticker. The source mentioned that this new feature is currently under development and not all beta users will be able to use it despite updating the application to the latest version. It is also reported that these animated stickers will be offered as a sticker packs when rolled out. Moreover, the users will also be able to use third-party sticker packs when made available. The users will also be able to preview an animated sticker on the chat before sending it to contacts.

Noticeably, unlike GIF, which play for a specific duration and needs to be tapped again for playing, these stickers continue to animate without the need to playing them.

As far as the availability is concerned, there is no clarity when this feature will be introduced to the stable users. The reports claim that the feature will be coming soon for Android, iOS and WhatsApp Web.

The company is also making several changes to the platform for curbing fake news and negative content. WhatsApp is testing Forwarded Label and Frequently Forwarded features on the messenger for the beta users as of now. To make the platform more secure and safety oriented, WhatsApp is also testing fingerprint authentication on Android phones.
