WhatsApp beta update assures users don't send image to wrong contact

The Facebook-owned messaging platform has been busy testing out new features like fingerprint lock, Dark mode etc. for its users. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has started pushing out a new update for its desktop app adding Picture-in-Picture feature.

The new feature is already present on the mobile devices but will now be available for the WhatsApp Web users, allowing them to watch a shared video while checking other chats or using a different app on their desktop.

How the picture-in-picture feature work on WhatsApp Web

  1. To use the picture-in-picture feature in WhatsApp, you can send a message with a YouTube link or any video platform link.
  2. The receiver will get the link with the preview which will mean that if the user taps on the link, the video will start playing.
  3. Now, if the user starts some other chat, the video will continue to play in a bubble (PiP mode).
  4. Users will be able to close the video playing in PIP mode by a swipe gesture.

According to WABetainfo, users can clear the cache of their browsers (Press CTRL+F5) in case the feature doesn’t work even after installing the latest 0.3.2041 update of WhatsApp Web. Post that, just restart the browser to use the updated WhatsApp Web version with Picture in Picture feature enabled.

Notably, the picture-in-picture feature has been available to WhatsApp for Android users for some time now and this will be an excellent addition for desktop users.
