Earlier, supporters of Mr Khan had protested against the BJP for not giving him a ticket to contest from Deedwana in the first three lists. Then, the supporters sent their resignations to the party’s state chief Madanlal Saini.
BJP’ only Muslim candidate in Rajasthan
Yunus Khan is the sole Muslim candidate representing Bhartiya Janata Party in the 2018 Rajasthan State Legislative Elections. On the other hand, Congress has given tickets to 15 Muslim candidates.
One of BJP’ most influential leaders
Yunus Khan is considered to be a close aide of the current Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje.
Two-time MLA
Mr Khan is a two-time MLA from Deedwana. He won the seat in 2003 and later in 2013 after losing out to Rupa Ram in 2008. He contested his first election in the year 1998.
Sachin pilot will be contesting a State Legislative Assembly Election for the first time. He won the Lok Sabha seat from Dausa and Ajmer in the years 2004 and 2009 respectively. In 2014, though, he lost out to BJP’s Sanwar Lal Jat by a margin of more than 2 lacs.
Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections will undergo on 7 December 2018.
