Twisha Sharma Death Case Explained: Ex-Miss Pune Found Dead In Bhopal Amid Dowry Claims

Twisha Sharma Death Case: The death of former Miss Pune contestant Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has sparked a lot of national anger and outrage, with allegations of dowry harassment, domestic abuse, and mental torture now sort of at the centre of a high-profile police investigation. This case has basically brought back the debate around dowry-related violence in India, especially after some unsettling details came up in the post-mortem report and people also claimed that Twisha had sent final messages before her death.

Who was Twisha Sharma?

Twisha Sharma was a 33-year-old woman, originally from Noida. She reportedly took part in the Miss Pune beauty pageant and later became active as a content creator and also a social media personality. Some reports say she got married to Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh in December 2025, after the two met through a dating application in 2024.

Twisha was found dead at her marital residence in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12, 2026. At first, it looked like a suicide case, but then it quickly turned into a bigger criminal investigation after her family accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and abuse.

Twisha Sharma Death Case

As per police officials, Twisha was taken to a hospital by her husband and her mother-in-law, where doctors said she was dead on arrival. Authorities later registered a case under provisions related to dowry death and harassment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Her family has alleged that Twisha faced continuous mental and physical harassment after marriage. They have also claimed she wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida in the weeks before her death.

The controversy deepened after reports emerged that Twisha had sent distressing messages to a close friend shortly before her death. In one alleged Instagram message, she reportedly wrote: “I am trapped bro. Bas tu mat phasna.”Can’t talk much. I’ll call when the time is right.”

Her friend responded emotionally, saying, “I am worried about you, Tuktuk. I love you. I love you so much. I am with you.” The chats have since gone viral on social media and intensified public scrutiny around the case.

“In her pregnancy, my sister wanted to continue with the child and become a mother. However, she was allegedly put under immense pressure by her husband and in-laws to undergo an abortion,” Major Harshit Sharma, her brother, said.

Post-Mortem Report Raises Serious Questions

The post-mortem conducted at AIIMS Bhopal reportedly found “multiple antemortem injuries” on Twisha’s body in addition to death by hanging. Several media reports also claimed that she had recently undergone a medical termination of pregnancy, allegedly under pressure from her in-laws.

Her family has strongly denied the suicide angle and alleged foul play. They have demanded a second post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi and sought an independent investigation outside Madhya Pradesh.

SIT Formed

Following mounting public pressure, Bhopal Police formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajnish Kashyap. The SIT is probing allegations related to dowry harassment, assault, mental torture, and possible destruction of evidence.

While Twisha’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, reportedly secured anticipatory bail, police said efforts were underway to trace and arrest Samarth Singh, who was reported to be absconding in earlier updates.
