The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is reportedly planning to rename Agra district to Agravan, for which the government has sought expert advice from the Ambedkar University in this regard.

Agra’s Bhim Rao Ambedkar University has now constituted a committee to go into the issue, following a letter from the local administration.

Reports claim that the UP government has moved to change Agra’s name to Agravan as it is believed by some that earlier the place was known as Agravan. Historians and experts have been asked to look into the circumstances and time when Agravan’s name was changed to Agra.
