Wordsmiths are skilled with the use of language and are employed to weave words that leave an impression on others.
So let’s take a closer look at the origin of the term ‘wordsmith.’ When broken down into the terms ‘word’ and’smithing,’ it is simple to understand how this term came to be associated with those who create new things using words. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica,’smithing’ is the process of fabricating or repairing metalwork. When we consider this ancient commerce, we envision creating something new from metal bars. Similar to how a blacksmith manipulates iron or steel to fashion a new instrument or piece of jewellery, authors bend and shape words to form thoughts and ideas.
The language used to express a writer’s creative mind may be simply translated as artistic element, craft, and the creation of something unique. The earliest evidence of blacksmithing was discovered in Egypt in 1350 B.C., and smiths were known to keep their secrets confidential, just as prolific authors, also known as wordsmiths, do today.
