World Computer Literacy Day 2023: World Computer Literacy Day is observed on December 2 each year. The holiday, which was established by N.I.I.T in 2001 to commemorate the company’s 20th anniversary and promote computer literacy among individuals, particularly children and women, was instituted to mark the occasion. Despite the fact that computers have become ubiquitous in our futuristic society, Computer Literacy Day serves as a reminder to do our part in ensuring that individuals who may have difficulty understanding innovation can easily access and utilize computers.

World Computer Literacy Day History

World Computer Literacy Day was established in 2001 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Indian company N.I.I.T. Established in 1981 by Vijay K. Thadani and Rajendra Singh Pawar, the National Institute of Information Technology (NI.I.T) is a corporation dedicated to the development of skills and talent.

The organization established World Computer Literacy Day in response to a study which discovered that the majority of computer users worldwide were male. Consequently, N.I.I.T. embraced the initiative to educate a greater number of children and women through the provision of computer literacy skills. The enterprise, which was established in 1981, has since expanded to more than 30 countries globally.

The inception of the computer can be historically situated in the early 1820s, during which Charles Babbage conceived the ‘Difference Engine,’ a mechanical computation device capable of executing elementary operations. Prior to the invention in question, a variety of devices were employed to execute calculations, including the abacus, Napier’s bones, Pascaline adding machine, and Leibniz Wheel. In contrast to its predecessors, the ‘difference’ engine was distinguished by its utilization of steam power and its capability to solve logarithmic tables.

Subsequently, computers have undergone numerous redesigns and enhancements in order to evolve into the devices we use today, including laptops, mobile devices, and desktop computers. Historically, computers were occasionally so large that they could fill an entire room. However, modern technology has made it possible to carry all of that scientific knowledge in the palm of our hands.

Integrated circuits were utilized by computers of the third generation, which also implemented time-sharing, multiprogramming, and remote processing systems.

(1971–1980) Fourth Generation Computers

The fourth iteration of computers utilized very large-scale integrated (V.L.S.I) circuits and were significantly more compact, affordable, and quick than their predecessors.
