Every year on September 25, World Pharmacists Day is observed. This day is a brainchild of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).
World Pharmacists Day was established in the late 2000s during a conference in Istanbul, Turkey. The day aims to bring attention to pharmacies and their contribution to the health sector. Also, the day commemorates all the pharmacists in the world.
FIP encourages all its members to get involved to participate in events that observe the day.
World Pharmacists Day 2019 Theme and Significance
This year, the theme for World Pharmacists Day is “Safe and effective medicines for all.” The theme aims to help provide people with safe and effective medicines and also highlights the key role that pharmacist.
As per the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the pharmacists’ role in protecting patient safety through improved medications use and reduced medication errors need to be highlighted to encourage the pharmacists.
All around the world, there are various events and ceremonies take place to thank the pharmacists for what they do. Different themes for the campaigns are kept so that the good work done by them gets much-deserved appreciation and recognition.
