In addition to ad-free YouTube, background and offline play, and uninterrupted access to over 100 million songs with the YouTube Music app, the price increase comes with additional benefits.

Family Premium plans saw a significant price increase to $22.99 per month at the end of the previous year, and the price has not changed. Introduced in January 2022, the annual subscription will now cost $139.99, a $20 increase.Additionally, the monthly cost of YouTube Music Premium is increasing to $10.99 from $9.99. The platform is also implementing measures to combat ad blockers. The fee of YouTube Premium (formerly known as “Red”) was last increased in 2018 when YouTube Music was relaunched.

Existing subscribers will be notified of the new pricing via email during their next billing cycle.

In the midst of these alterations, YouTube is experimenting new user-facing features. By long-pressing anywhere on the player while viewing a video, one of them permits users to view videos at double speed.

This development was mentioned on the company’s experiments page. Premium members have access to the feature until August 13 while it is undergoing testing. This new feature seeks to simplify video playback by eliminating the need for users to manually adjust the playback speed in multiple steps.

A second feature being evaluated provides users with larger video previews while seeking. This improvement will make it easier for viewers to locate particular instances within a video.
