14 held for eating chicken, consuming liquor near Bata temple in Tirumala Tirupati

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board, in December, decided to write to the Andhra Pradesh Government, requesting a ban on sale and consumption of liquor in Tirupati.

Tirumala: The consumption of liquor and eating non-veg at holy place Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is prohibited, but still some of the devotees neglect it and break the rules.

The police have warned several times and have stated that strict actions would be taken if anyone involves in such activities.

Recently, the One Town Police have arrested 14 people who were consuming Chicken and Alcohol at Tirumala. The Police said they got to know that a few people were eating chicken biryani and drinking liquor near the Bata Ganganna Temple. The Police immediately reached the spot and by seeing the police the people tried to escape.

Drunken youth ate chicken alive in Telangana

The police chased them down and caught hold of 14 people. Later the 14 people who were involved in consuming Chicken and Alcohol were taken to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s Ashwini Hospital for medical examinations. On the incident, the police booked a case against 14 members under prohibition and excise act, Tirumala notified area act and investigating further.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board, in December, decided to write to the Andhra Pradesh Government, requesting a ban on sale and consumption of liquor in Tirupati.

Presently, there is a liquor ban in the temple town of Tirumala, which is atop the hill. The TTD trust board has asked for this ban to be extended to the city of Tirupati, which acts as the entrance to Tirumala.
