Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan who is known to sense political weather is gearing up for upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In Bihar, the LJP is ready to fight on 6 Lok Sabha seats with an additional benefit of 1 Rajya Sabha berth from BJP’s quota.

In June 2019, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s Rajya Sabha term from Assam is going to get over. According to sources, LJP chief will be sent to the upper house from this same seat. In total, two Rajya Sabha seats from the state will fall vacant immediately after 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

In 2009, he was sent to Rajya Sabha through RJD’s quota but in 2014 he switched sides to NDA to fight Lok Sabha polls and won the Hajipur seat but this time his younger brother, Pashupati Kumar Paras is expected to be fielded from LJP’s traditional seat. Last time LJP fought on 7 seats namely- Jamui, Hajipur, Samastipur, Khagaria, Vaishali, Nalanda and Munger. It managed to retain all seats except Nalanda where it lost with margin of 9,627 votes.
