Former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand, accused of raping a student, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh SIT from Mumukshu Ashram in Shahjahanpur on Friday morning. Soon after the arrest, he was taken to a hospital by the police for medical test.
Last month, a law student from Uttar Pradesh had leveled serious allegations of rape and sexual assault against the BJP leader. To support her claims, the victim had given a pendrive to the investigating team containing about 43 videos against the leader. The SIT had taken the woman to Chinmayanand’s bedroom and had collected evidence.
The victim even went missing for several days before an Uttar Pradesh police team traced her in Rajasthan and produced her before the Supreme Court.
