BACKGROUND

Joshua William Dun was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 18, 1988. Laura Dee Dun, a hospice social worker, and William Earl Dun, a physical therapy assistant, are his parents. There are three siblings in his family: two sisters and a brother. As a child, Dun primarily listened to punk rock, frequently concealing the albums he purchased from his parents, who were extremely picky about the types of music they approved of. Dun began his musical education at school with trumpet lessons, eventually teaching himself to play the drums by imitating the beats on recordings on an electronic drum kit.
