Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout appearance in the early 2000s chartbuster remix “Kaanta Laga,” passed away at the age of 42 following a reported cardiac arrest. The popular model and television personality was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai’s Andheri area late Tuesday night, but hospital staff confirmed she was declared dead on arrival.
According to hospital sources, Jariwala was brought in by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, and three others. A receptionist at the hospital told media, “She was already gone when they brought her here.” While the Resident Medical Officer declined to comment due to patient confidentiality, another physician, Dr. Sushant, later confirmed her passing and informed that her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem.
A Career That Spanned Music Videos, Reality TV, and Web Series
Shefali Jariwala rose to fame overnight with her appearance in the 2002 remix Kaanta Laga, which became a pop culture sensation. Often referred to as the “Kaanta Laga Girl”, she successfully transitioned into the world of television and digital entertainment in the years that followed.
She appeared in Nach Baliye 5 and 7, and was a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, where she gained a new wave of popularity for her candid personality and calm demeanor. In recent years, she was seen in the ALT Balaji web series Baby Come Naa (2018) and made her TV fiction debut in Shaitani Rasmein in 2024.
