Julia Garner Divorce Rumors: Emmy-winning actor Julia Garner and Foster the People frontman Mark Foster have reportedly separated after more than six years of marriage, according to multiple entertainment outlets. The reports surfaced on Wednesday after People magazine, citing a source close to the couple, said the pair had ended their relationship. Neither Garner nor Foster has really said anything publicly about the reports and their representatives havent put out any official statement.

Garner, who is most known for her award-winning role as Ruth Langmore in Ozark, and Foster, the Grammy-nominated lead singer of the indie band Foster the People, tied the knot back in December 2019 during a close ceremony at New York City Hall. Over the course of their marriage, the two kept to a more off to the side path, staying out of the spotlight for the most part and only showing up together now and then, while they kept the more personal stuff pretty private.
The latest reports describe the couple as separated after more than six years of marriage. While some outlets have suggested that divorce proceedings may follow, no court filings or official confirmation have been made public at the time of publication.

Garner and Foster first crossed paths at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013 but did not begin dating until years later after reconnecting through Instagram. Garner previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Foster reached out to her through direct messages after interacting with her social media posts.

The couple became engaged during a trip to Montana in 2019, where Foster proposed by reading a poem he had written for Garner. Later that year, they exchanged vows in a courthouse ceremony inspired by Garner’s parents’ own wedding. During the celebration, Foster surprised his bride with an original song, “Lovers in a Stream,” written specifically for their first dance. Garner later said that this moment was like one of the most meaningful gifts she had ever received.
Even though they kept things pretty quiet, the pair still seemed to do that little habit of recognizing each other achievements, often. Garner, during her Emmy Award acceptance speech in 2019, thanked Foster and called him “the love of my life.” She also, in 2023, when accepting her Golden Globe for Ozark, expressed thanks to him again too.
No Official Confirmation Yet
As of Thursday, neither Julia Garner nor Mark Foster has confirmed the reported separation, or responded to the chatter about a possible divorce. Entertainment outlets keep saying the couple have taken separate paths. Still, no legal documents have been made public and there hasn’t been any official explanation for the split.
