AAP for FIR against BJP leaders over ‘terrorist’ remark

New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) In a memorandum to the Election Commission, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here on Thursday sought registration of FIRs against Pravesh Verma and Manoj Tiwari, both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs, for calling Arvind Kejriwal a “terrorist”.

The complaint, filed by AAP leader Pankaj Gupta, also demanded ban on the two leaders from electoral campaigning for the Delhi Assembly, which will go to vote on February 8.

“The kind of language and words being used by the BJP poll campaigners is not only deplorable but also a slap on the face of the people of Delhi. Unless an exemplary action is taken by the poll panel, the election will turn out to be ‘free for all’ and the model code of conduct will only remain in books,” Gupta wrote.

During a public meeting, Verma had called Kejriwal a “terrorist”. Tiwari also supported Verma’s statement thereby “committed the same offence”, Gupta said and sought “stern action against them.”

Earlier in the day, Gupta, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, stahed a sit-in at the Nirvachan Sadan as the CEC didn’t confirm the meeting time. Later, the submitted the memorandum.
