AIADMK party on Wednesday said 77 people died of shock and grief after hearing about the illness and later the death of chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The party announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the families.
“77 persons have died of grief and shock after having to come to know of honourable Amma’s (Jayalalithaa) illness and death,” an AIADMK statement said.
According to the statement issued by the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, a sum of Rs 50,000 will be paid to a party cadre who attempted self-immolation after hearing about Amma’s illness and another person who sacrificed a finger after heard about her death.
The party also released the list of 77 persons who died of shock and grief after Jayalalithaa’s death. The deceased hailed from different part of the state.
AIADMK expressed its condolences to the family members of the dead.
