AICC Delhi unit requests Rahul Gandhi to take over as party president

The on Saturday passed a resolution requesting vice president, Rahul Gandhi, to take over as party president. The current president is Sonia Gandhi.

AICC is the first committee to pass such a resolution.

Of late, reports had been doing the rounds that the Congress scion may take over as party president by the end of this month.

According to sources, the nomination for the post of party president is likely to start from 10 October provided there is more than one candidate in the fray.

However, the Central Election Authority of Congress has decided to fix the date around 10 October for the beginning of the election for the post of party president.

The results are expected to be out by 25 October.
