The National Film Awards, India’s most prominent awards ceremony celebrating the best in Indian cinema, announced Gujarati film ‘Hellaro’ as the Best Feature Film of the year.
Earlier today, the jury members submitted their report to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar with their final recommendations in various categories.
Awards were given in 31 categories in feature film category while non-feature films will be announced in 23 categories.
Other films that took awards home this year include “Andhadhun” which was awarded for best Hindi film and best adapted screenplay.
Actor Keerthy Suresh won the best actress award for her portrayal of yesteryear star Savitri in Telugu film “Mahanati”.
Akshay Kumar-starrer “Padman” was named the best film on social issues.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmavaat“, which faced a lot of hurdles during its release, walked away with best choreography for ‘Ghoomer’ and the best music director award for Bhansali. Its song “Binte Dil” landed Arijit Singh the best male playback singer recognition.
