Bank Holiday in Bihar on 11 November 2025: Tomorrow, on Tuesday 11 November 2025, the second and final phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections will take place. Voting is set to be held across 122 assembly constituencies in 20 districts of the state.
The result of this phase will be decisive for the formation of the next government, since the tenure of the current assembly ends on 22 November.
According to official data, nearly 3.7 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase.
Why Are Banks (and Schools & Offices) Closed?
To ensure smooth polling operations and to enable maximum voter participation, the state administration and the Election Commission of India (ECI) have declared that banks, schools, colleges and many government offices will remain closed in the affected districts on polling day.
For banks: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has designated the day as a state-specific bank holiday in Bihar in view of the elections.
For schools and colleges: Many polling booths are established in these institutions. To facilitate polling logistics and for the safety of voters, schools and colleges are declared closed.
For government offices and employees: A paid holiday is often granted so that eligible voters in districts going to poll can cast their votes without losing a day’s wage or facing work pressure.
In short: If you are in one of the 20 districts voting tomorrow, expect banks to be shut, schools/colleges closed and many offices non-operational. It is a civic holiday in the election-areas context.

Tips for Citizens
If you qualify to vote and live in any of these 20 constituencies, then tomorrow is your day. Don’t waste it. The closings are for supporting your involvement.
Is it necessary to go to a bank branch tomorrow? It is better to do it today (10 Nov). Or if it is necessary, change to digital/ATM.
In case you are an in-branch cash withdrawal or bank-based services user, it is better to plan in advance.
Most banks’ online services (net-banking, UPI) will be available. However, branch-specific tasks (cheque deposits, on-the-spot verifications, large cash deposits) may be postponed.
Make sure of your polling station, required ID, whether you need to keep the day free for voting.
The fact that tomorrow is a holiday in these areas indicates that it is not a routine day, it is a significant day in Bihar’s democratic process.
