PatnaBefore 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the seat-sharing formula among the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)  allies is over in Bihar but inner discontent on Ram Temple and Triple Talaq issue is prevailing among partners, as Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janashakti Party have attacked the BJP.

According to fresh reports, JD(U) general secretary KC Tyagi has supported Chirag Paswan’s statement on temple construction. He said: “We respect BJP’s manifesto but why such issues are raised only when the election is near?”

Further, Tyagi advised, except the issue of development no other issue should be a priority for election. Uniform Civil Code, article-370, Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue is not on NDA’s agenda, it’s on BJP’s agenda, our views are different on these issues.

Last month also JD(U) pointed the gun of criticism on BJP declaring no support if BJP brings an ordinance on temple construction. JD(U) organisational general secretary RCP Singh said- If BJP brings an ordinance on temple construction, we are not going to support it. We have always talked about social cohesion and communal harmony. This public stand was brushed aside by saying- temple would be constructed soon.

But on the other hand, JD(U) vice president Prashant Kishor tried to ease the debate by saying, “BJP can win the election (2019 polls) without raising the temple issue. It had done so in 2014. It has surely shown a slump from 2014 position but it is s till stronger than its positions before 2004 and 2009 Lok Sabha polls.”

Apart from JD(U) the other NDA ally in Bihar Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) was heard in the same tone of complaint. LJP parliamentary chief and Lok Sabha MP from Jamui, Chirag Paswan expressed his dissatisfaction on dragging of ‘Ram Temple’ dispute as an election issue.

I am hopeful that the election will be fought on the issue of development and contentious issues like the Ram temple and Triple Talaq will be kept at bay. These may harm the coalition’s prospects said Chirag Paswan while talking to journalists. Adding further he said- I expect from the prime minister and other NDA partners that we will continue to make development, the problem of youth, farmers and deprived sections our main issue.

Previously, after assembly election results of MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, he was the first  in NDA camp in pin pointing the main reason behind the loss of BJP. He said -the cause of BJP’s loss in the three states was caused by its inordinate emphasis on Ram temple created confusion within the voters. We need to realize this and admit it instead of continuing to deny.
