Bihar Assembly Election Results 2020: How RJD's Tejashwi Yadav missed CM chair?

Of the 243 seats in Bihar Assembly Elections 2020, 125 have gone in favour of the ruling coalition headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and 110 to rival Grand Alliance. The RJD emerged as the single-largest party in the House with 75 seats.

The NDA eased past the majority mark of 122 in the 243-member Assembly. The BJP won 74 seats to emerge as the senior member in its alliance with Nitish Kumar’s JDU, which won just 43.

According to data on the Election Commission’s website, the BJP won 72 seats to emerge as the senior member in its alliance with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JDU, which managed just 42.

RJD emerged as the single-largest party. Let’s focus on the major points which have been proved as disadvantages for Tejashwi Yadav.

Performance by Congress Party:

The Congress was the worst performer in the Grand Alliance in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020. The Congress contested for 70 seats but won only 20 seats. If the Congress would have taken a further lead in 10-15 seats, there were high chances for Tejashwi Yadav to be on Chief Minister’s chair.

Third Phase Elections:

The third phase was the biggest loss to RJD and grand alliance. Out of the 78 seats in the third phase, the NDA won 53 seats, 5 out of the remaining 25 won by the party. It is believed that by the third phase, Tejashwi Yadav could not turn people in favour of the RJD.

Disappointing performance by noted leaders:

The RJD and the grand alliance leaders could not win this time, which led to the loss of the alliance. RJD stalwart Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Gulam Yadav and Congress Bhavna Jha, Kripanath Pathak lost the election.

Meanwhile, Senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP)  leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi on Wednesday said that there is no question of replacing Nitish Kumar as Bihar chief minister. Modi made the statement a day after the BJP finished ahead of Nitish’s JD(U) in the Bihar Assembly poll for the first time.
