With over 1,412 fresh cases of coronavirus on Sunday, the total number of infections tally in Bihar has crossed 26k mark. So far, 16,597 patients have been recovered from the virus and the active cases stands at 9,602. The recovery rate of Bihar reached 62.91%, according to the health department.

A central team is visiting Bihar on July 20 to assess the state’s coronavirus preparedness amid the pandemic. The visit by the three-member team led by Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal comes amid allegations of poor handling of the COVID-19 situation by the Nitish Kumar government. The state reported over 1,700 cases on Saturday.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has been attacking Nitish Kumar over the handling of the crisis and today shared a video of people complaining about the lack of doctors and nurses at a hospital in Siwan. A woman is seen lying unattended at a hospital bed as her attendants call for help.

Now, the coronavirus treatment is going to start in private hospitals in Bihar. At present, 19 patients of COVID-19 will be admitted to Paras Hospital and Ruban Memorial Hospital in Patna. Civil surgeon Patna wrote a letter to both the hospitals on Sunday.

Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has already started the COVID-19 treatment. An isolation center of 100 beds is being developed in Rajendra surgical block. Most of the work has been done and it is expected to be started from Tuesday or Wednesday. It has about 20 beds of ICU and each bed will have an oxygen facility.

The district administration of Patna has started the facility of free COVID-19 test at 25 new centres in Patna. Earlier, corona tests were conducted in 6 to 7 government hospitals in Patna. The decision has been taken due to the ever-increasing crowd.
