Bihar topped the list of the state with most number of electrified villages during the year 2015-2016. Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Rajasthan hold the next positions respectively.
The number of villages electrified in Bihar raised to 1754 in 2015-16 from 341 in 2014-15. The annual growth of the state was 414.37% as compared to the year 2014-15.
Uttar Pradesh recorded a growth of 1246 in the number of villages electrified as compared to 2014-15. The annual growth of the most populated state was 2111.86% in the year 2015-16.
The number of villages electrified in Odisha increased to 1264 in 2015-16 from 13 in the year 2014-15. The state recorded a growth of 9623.08% as compared to the year 2014-15.
The number of villages electrified in Assam was 190 in 2014-15. It increased to 942 in 2015-16, recording a growth of 752 in the number of villages electrified as compared to 2014-15.
Chattisgarh recorded a growth of 338 in the number of villages electrified as compared to 2014-15. In percentage terms, the annual growth was 504.48% as compared to the year 2014-15.
The states with lowest number of villages that have been electrified are Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Tripura.
