The Bahujan Samajwadi Party( BSP) on Monday clarified that the poster that went viral on social media was false. Earlier on Sunday, a poster from the party’s official Twitter handle was posted, which showed a number of leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Lalu Yadav and Sharad Yadav together in one frame. The poster was hinting at the possibility of a mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh.

Ever since the Narendra-Modi-led NDA government came to power at the centre in 2014, opposition parties were trying to create a grand alliance that would challenge BJP’s power at the centre. The first attempt was made by forming a mahagathbandhan by JD(U), RJD and Congress in Bihar. The same effect seemed to have come down to UP as well.

A message was also printed alongside the pictures of the leaders, that read- Saamajik Nyaya ki or ek kadam… vipaksh ka ekikrit prayas ( a step forward towards social justice…a unified attempt by the opposition).

The BJP is trying to make the lotus bloom in many parts of the country, As a result, the need to form a mega alliance is strengthening among the opposition parties.
