UP budget session: Rs 3255 cr allocated for building toilets, Rs 1000 cr for Swachh mission

Uttar Pradesh government has presented its first annual budget of Rs 3,84,659 crore on Tuesday. While Rs 36000 cr was allocated from the budget for farm loans waiver, the government has allocated Rs 21.12 cr for free education for girls under ‘Ahilyabai Kanya Free Education Scheme.’

Apart from that Rs 800 cr was allocated for development of infrastructure in cities of Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura under ‘Prasad Yojana’ and Rs 500 crore was allocated for preparation of ‘Ardh Kumbh’ to be held in Allahabad.

The state Finance minister has also declared the launch of groundwater conservation mission in his budget session and a new policy for solar power in the state.

Here are other key announcements:

UP 2017-18 annual budget for Rs 3,84,659.71 crore is 10.9 per cent higher than the last fiscal year.

The budget provides Rs 55,781.96 crore for new schemes.

The state government allocated Rs 3255 crore for construction of toilets, while another Rs 1000 crore has been kept for Swachh Bharat mission.

The government has also allocated Rs 300 crore for the distribution of socks, shoes and sweaters to help the school children.

UP allocated Rs 40 crore for a new scheme called as Besahara Pash Yojana to aid abandoned and stray animals.

For improvement of water sports in Gorakhpur district, Rs 25 crore is allocated. Besides, Rs 50 crore provisions have been kept for WiFi scheme in the state, Times of India reported.

For safe drinking water in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal, Rs 2800 crore has been allocated.

For Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Rs 3000 crore will be allocated.

While Rs 200 crore will be allocated for Bundelkand special provisions, Rs 800 crore was allocated for Prasad Yojna in Ayodhya-Mathura-Kashi regions.
